Twenty-four hours...

So many good things happened in the past 24 hours. Nothing huge, like winning lotto or something, but blessings. Beautiful blessings.

Last night, right before I went to bed, the phone rang and it was a good friend from my Girl Scouting days. We still keep in touch and most recently we've talked about planning a reunion of sorts for all us who at one point in our lives, were so involved with each others lives and our children's lives. She wanted to go forward and we talked about making plans, etc. I mentioned to her about my surgery next week and right away, she asked me if I needed a ride or anything. So, she is going to drive me on Tuesday at 5 o'clock in the morning, all the way downtown. She's been there for me other times when I've needed her. I've been so blessed to have her in my life!

I got my review today and work and got a 2.5% raise. Not a whole lot, but better than zero%. It's a 6-month review and not everyone gets a salary increase at the 6-month review. I did well and feel blessed to have a salary increase.

After work today, we had a Winter Fest - drinks, snacks, karaoke, bean bags, card games and general socializing. I worked late (oh, yes, another blessing - I worked an hour of OT and got a chance to win an iPod. I was planning to skip getting a chance this week, but got stuck on a call.) and headed over to the atrium mainly to drop off my toy donation. I stopped and got a water and decided to hang out for a while because I had time to kill (and water to drink) before my ultrasound appointment that I was heading to on my way home from work. Anyway, this guy at work who I have noticed taking extra glances at me at lunch time and at other office doings (well, at least I think so) was down there by himself (usually he's with several people from his department) and he was sort of hanging around me, like, nervously, waiting to say something himself, or for me to say something - or something!! rofl!! It was very comical, actually. And who knows??!! That's the sense I get, but after getting burned by my professor (not the one that I had breakfast with) that consequently caused me to question my normally reliable senses, I really can't be sure of anything. I did end up saying something to him - about as brilliant as "How's the weather?" He seemed nervous, or perhaps more like wtf is she talking to me? It was humorous and the whole thing made me smile. I wish I could explain it better than I am here.

Then, when I went to my ultrasound appointment, I checked in, had a seat, then they called my name to come up to give them my insurance information, etc. I happened to look down and noticed a name on the clipboard (which they should not have had out on the counter) and it was a friend from high school's husband. I haven't seen Audrey since high school (and that's been more than 30 years), although we exchange Christmas cards every year. There was only one guy in the waiting room who wasn't there when I walked in and he was with a woman. After I was done, I went back to sit down. I took a good look at her and said "Audrey?" I wouldn't have recognized her without seeing her husbands name on that paper. And obviously, she didn't recognize me either. We hugged and only had a minute before they called me in. She said that she'd be waiting out there and we could exchange info when I got done. Sure enough, she was out there (her dh was having an MRI on his back) when I was through. We hugged again and exchanged emails and phone numbers and promised to get together after the holidays. She wanted to sit and talk - and I did, too, but I really needed to get home to Claire and Will. It was already late. What a wonderful holiday surprise!

When I finally got home, there was a box there from Winkflash. My Christmas cards!! Wow!! I've never had faster service from them. I took the picture on Sunday, late in the afternoon, and here it is only Thursday and I have the cards in my hands!! Awesome!!

It's so late! Gotta get to bed!
