Sorry for my absence...
...I really have no good excuse. Just busy. But who isn't, right? I can't believe the holidays are coming up so quickly! I just found my lost iPod Shuffle (with the help of Professor Solomon) and transferred some Christmas songs to it! (Listening to them now!) And I've had multiple Starbucks lattes in the holiday cups already and picked up some Candy Cane Joe-Joe's yesterday. I bought a couple of sweaters from Kris' Etsy store, felted them and made this last night from one of them.
Here's a close up of the stitching. I found this great stitch last night on Primrose Design. She's got a ton of stitch tutorials over in the right-side navigation bar, under "Stitch School Posts."

Good to see you back! Love the coffee cozy.
Very crafty! And it's great to "see" you here again!
oh that cozy is too cute! I had a few Jo Jo's last night in the wee hours while I was surfing the web. gosh they're so darn good. hoping to make my 2 boxes last through december. all about rationing!
welcome back!
LOVE that cozy! question: are the buttons functional or are they just for looks? Hoping to make my own this week and could use any tips you might offer. It doesn't look as though you use a cuff of a sleeve so I'm assuming you used the actual body of the sweater?

Crafty P! You're limiting yourself to two boxes??!!
Kelly, thanks for your interest! I didn't use the cuff, but I did use a slice out of the sleeve. I would recommend cutting your slice of the sleeve wider than you actually want your cozy to be because I lost some of my width while I was evening the edges of my piece out. I cut the seam out close to the seam stitching. The buttons are sewn on top and through all layers. What I basically did was to wrap the strip around the cup and secure it with a pin after I had done the top stitching on three sides (one short edge is underneath, so I didn't do the top-stitching on that), then I stitched the layers together from the back, trying not to stitch all the way to the front so my stitches wouldn't show. Then I sewed the buttons on through both layers. I would recommend when you wrap the piece around the cup to make it pretty snug. I felt I could have made mine more snug than it ended up.
