Do I look like a giraffe?

You'd think I was a giraffe in a past life or something the way I'm going around sticking my neck out like I am. ;) You may (or may not) remember me talking about my old theatre professor whom I've had coffee with a few times. Just friends. You also may (or may not) recall that I initially assumed he was gay (you know, the theatre and all) until I found out that he was going through a divorce as well. The last time we had coffee was in March (I just went back and scanned through old emails at my university address), and I had given up on being the one to always initiate the meetings. Then, during the summer I was in line to pay at a Barnes and Noble and I heard the young girl behind the counter say to the customer in front of me that she was going to the local junior college. So, of course, me being the big mouth that I am, struck up a conversation with her about school. Long story, kind of shorter....she is a theatre student and has been in several of the plays at school, and she said that she was keeping Professor B's cat while he was away. At the last second, as I was leaving with my package, I asked if she could possibly remember my name, would she tell him that I said "Hi." She ripped off a piece of paper and asked me to write it down and that she'd give it to him. I quickly scribbled a "Hey, how are you? How is your summer going?" and signed it. I never heard anything from him after that (I think that was sometime at the beginning of August). Then when I was at work at the doctor's office on Friday (okay, avoiding actually doing work) I thought I'd check my old junior college email address for the heck of it. It's Tom's and Chelsea's school now, so maybe I might see some announcement about something going on there. Among the small bunch of "junk" emails, was an email from Zach, dated 8/15. It was just a quick note saying that he had gotten my note, asked how I was and said that we should get together to catch up. So, it took me a good part of the night to finally have a chance to type out a brief (as brief as I can be) reply. I also mentioned that it would be best to email me at my yahoo account or my new school account. After I got home from work tonight, I checked my email, like I always do, and there was a reply from Zach. At the end, he said "Let’s find a time to get together." So, instead of replying, I'm sitting here typing this. Basically, I'm going to tell him that it pretty much has to be the weekend or nothing with my schedule. No more meeting in the middle of the day because my schedule was open. It's just that the weekend seems more like a [gulp] date that just "stopping by for coffee." Okay, off to hit Send!
