It was the best day...

Every morning, I say to myself, "Today is going to be the best day." And it always is. Sure, it may not be as good as yesterday or as good as tomorrow, but it's always the best day for today. I believe that you get what you expect. I think I've finally gotten the kids to start this practice and they are slowly starting to get it.

Today really was the best day. This morning, I made plans with my brother to meet him and my nephew over at Home Depot for the Kids Workshop that they have once a month. He goes pretty regularly with his son and they often go with my other brother and nephew. But they couldn't go today and Will and I met Chuck and Charlie over there late this morning. It was a quick project, they made a planter box and then they had dirt and seeds at a table for the kids to plant in their planter box.

Here's Will, working hard (it really wasn't quite t-shirt weather)...

Here's Chuck, Charlie and Will with their finished planter boxes...

After they were finished, Chuck invited us to go with them over to McDonald's (their usual after-Home Depot stop). It's right across the street and there's a Starbucks across the parking lot from McDonald's. I stopped with Will at Starbucks and got an iced latté and we walked over to McDonald's and had lunch with Chuck and Charlie. The boys played in the tubes in the play area after lunch and Chuck and I got to talk. It was a very nice afternoon.

Then, after getting home, I decided to try my hand at trying to fix Will's Playstation 2 that has been broken for several months now. It actually started with him asking how much a new one would be (his birthday is coming up) I searched on line and found one at $129. Then I thought to myself, maybe I should try to Google some information on fixing them. It's already not working, so what did I have to lose? I found some information here and there and I was able to get that baby working again!! Of course, at the moment, I'm the "awesome-est" mom on the planet! Then Claire asked me to take a look at our printer that hasn't been working for weeks now and I was able to fix that as well! I was on a roll and Claire challenged me to fix the vacuum cleaner that's been broken. It still vacuums perfectly fine, it's just that it hasn't stood up on it's own for at least a year. You know when you lift the handle up and it clicks, and the handle stays up? Ours didn't do that. We've had to prop the handle up and lean it against something all this time. Well, wouldn't you know? I got that fixed, too!

And now, I've got a blog post to add to my best day. Gotta run, Claire and I are going to watch a movie. No Reservations, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (thanks, Caryn!). We're going to get our pillows and blankets and snuggle up on the couch. Maybe I'll throw a log in the fire. Pretty soon we'll be able to have fires outside in the fire pit again!

Way to go, Sister! I love it when I can figure out something mechanical, but three things in one day, I'm impressed :)
