Another wonderful day...

I slept in and had a leisurely breakfast. Late this morning, I met Tom over at a Kohl's that is about half-way in between us to help him pick out a shirt and tie that he needs for a job interview on Tuesday (please keep your fingers and toes crossed for him!). Found a nice shirt and tie to go with a pair of khaki dress pants he already has. Sweet. We were starting to walk from the men's department to head toward the registers and I spotted this guy that I recognized from - hope you're sitting down - match.com.

Let me explain the match.com thing before I go on. A few months ago, I had gotten together with a bunch of ladies I know from my Girl Scouting days. One of my friends was telling us some funny things about her ex-husband and insisted that we check out his match.com profile. She told us what parameters to put in the search and that he'd come up first on the list. A few days later, I remembered and searched for him. His profile was just as funny/nuts as JoAnn said it was. While I was on the search page, I looked at a few of the other profiles. I have to say that they were just scary and gross for the most part. Totally blech! I did come across one guy's profile who really seemed genuinely nice.
He lives in the next town over. A month or so ago, I even went back there to see if his profile was still up or if he changed it at all. At the end of his profile he said that he was letting his subscription run out and that if someone was clever, they would be able to figure out how to contact him. I wasn't clever enough, nor was I really inclined to meet someone through match.com (At the moment. I've learned to never say never).

Fast forward to today, shopping with Tom. I recognized him as he walked down the center aisle, but Tom was with me and this would just confirm that I'm the crazy mom he thought I was, so I just smiled to myself at the weird coincidence of it all and continued to the registers with Tom. My plan was to pay for his things and then continue to do some shopping for myself anyway. So, I paid for Tom's things and said goodbye to him. I walked around the men's section and down the back aisle on my way to the women's department. I thought, if I see him I'll say something otherwise it's over to the women's department for me. You know how I love talking to strangers. Well, I saw him in the domestics department looking at rugs. Without a second thought, I walked up to him and said, "Excuse me..." He stepped back as if to let me past him and I said, "no" and went on to explain myself. We talked for a little while. I found out that he has an almost-20 year old son and a daughter who is a junior in high school. He seemed as nice and as genuine as he did in his profile.
He mentioned that he didn't want to misrepresent himself, that he was just starting a relationship, though didn't know where it was headed. He said that he appreciated the courage it took to come up to him like that. He also said that he had hidden his email address in one part of his profile. Later on, when I finally got back home, I pulled his profile back up and found it. I emailed him something nice saying that it would be fun to get together as friends for coffee or something.

After that, I did head over to the women's department. I'm really not crazy about shopping, but I do need clothes for work for spring/summer. I really lucked out finding things today - and the prices were great, too. I bought two dresses, one is a white with brown print wrap dress and the other is a sheath dress that is black with white polka dots. I love wearing dresses to work in the summer. Just throw on a dress, lotion up my legs and slip on a pair of shoes. Comfy and cool, too! Here's what the sheath dress looks like. I actually have this all black one from last year.

I also found a couple of blouses. And when I find something I like, I get it in a couple of colors. I always figure that if someone notices that I have the same blouse, I'd just be flattered that they paid that much attention to my wardrobe. There are seriously, more interesting things. Here are the blouses, of course, they look cuter in person.

Two dresses and four blouses added to what I already have and I think I'm set for spring and summer! Oh - I got $30.00 in Kohl's cash that I can spend tomorrow. I'll have to check out a pair of shoes or sandals.

After Kohl's, I headed to this great quilting fabric store called Thimbles in the old, downtown section of the neighboring town. It's a block down from this restaurant. It was so fun browsing all the beautiful fabrics and seeing all the beautiful quilts hanging on the walls, dreaming of all the quilts I will make someday. Fun, fun, fun. And relaxing, too. I picked up these fat quarter bundles along with an extra coordinating fat bundle (whatever fat quarter means?!). The bundles look so cute just like this, don't they?

There are actually six patterns in each of those sets. I picked them up for a project I'm working on. If everything goes well, I'll be able to post about it in a couple of weeks.

All in all, a pretty good day! And it's still not over. I'm planning on watching some episodes from season one of The Office. My boss loaned me his DVD. He said that he has seasons two and three when I'm done.

ETA: Those top two blouses are actually really cute in person. They look kind of blech in the pictures. The black/white one also has grey in it and looks great with my grey pants.

I can't wait to see those pincushions! I use freezer paper whenever I'm piecing something (or appliquing it)- which doesn't happen to be very often, but it's just easier to use than regular paper.

Awesome shopping girl!

I love the fat quarters! I always want to buy them because they look so cool. Love the clothes too. Shopping isn't high on my to-do list, but Punky and I are going to Kohl's today in hopes of scoring a couple of shirts for summer. As for match.com...I know some people who have found their true love there so I think it is great.

I love Fat Quarters - they are the perfect size for making napkins. I go overboard with fabric, so the quarters give me variety, without a ton of bulky yardage that I need to store.

You are bold in re: the match.com guy. Good for you!
