I knew it was going to happen...

When I started school three years ago, I counted the years until Tom and Chelsea would be in college and calculated that we would be overlapping. I figured that I would see them and/or their friends at school. As depressing as I thought that would be, what could I do? Tom's schedule is such that we don't run into each other this semester and next semester I'll be gone. But yesterday was the first time I ran into one of his peers! This kid went to Tom's grammar school, junior high and high school. I was room mom with his mom! Yikes! Then, less than a half hour later, I was in my history class talking to a couple of kids before class started (one of those rare instances when I was early) and the girl said to me, "Are you Tom's mom?" Huh??!!! It seems like I've turned into "Mrs. Lastname" and "So-and-So's Mom" again!! Up until now, school had been all about just me. It was where I wasn't Mrs. Lastname, or so-and-so's mom, or the Girl Scout leader, etc. The people there only knew me for me. And now that's all gone! I am so freaking old....but that's another post! I'm sure I'll get over it. Oh, that girl and I are going to study together for our test - how weird is that?
